Junior Karting for 8-16 year olds

Launched in 2005 Buckmore’s Junior Kart Club has been a resounding success with some ex members now racing successfully in British and European Championships.

The Club offers competitive and friendly racing for junior drivers in two age groups: 8-13 and 11-16. A racing licence is not required and we supply all the equipment including the relevant safety wear and state-of-the-art 160cc Honda powered karts. The club holds winter and summer championships and a series of non championship ‘rookie’ races for those at the beginning of their racing careers. Racing continues year round and is divided into two seasons. The 2010 summer championship begins in March and comprises of seven rounds during the school holidays and weekends. The club races are run on the 600m National circuit but we occasionally offer events on the full 1200m International circuit.

All club members are eligible to use a Junior Club Forum on this website, and have all their results and lap times published online. Race reports are also prepared for each event. Each round features a practice session, three heats and a final for each driver. The top three drivers in the A final are awarded trophies and special championship prizes are presented at the end of the year. Junior Kart Club events for 8-16 year olds are open to everyone over 4’ 2” (127cm).

Prospective club members must undertake at least one introductory cadet lesson at the Sisley Kart School (or similar and approved alternative) before racing. This is done in the interests of safety. The club is the ideal training ground for any young driver keen to progress to full owner/driver racing as it follows very similar lines to those at MSA race meetings.

All prospective drivers are required to join the Junior Club. Club membership for the year March ’10 to February ’11 is £20
