Junior Intermediate class

A large grid of juniors racing

bullet point First, what is a Rookie?

A Rookie is a driver who is in his or her first year of competitive racing. The next step is the Junior Championship series and the gap between can be pretty daunting. Currently the rules are that you must complete a minimum of three rookie races and a maximum of one year racing in the class before you move to the Junior Championship.

bullet point So what then is the Intermediate Class?

The Intermediate class is for Rookie racers who have attended at least three Rookie events. They are then eligible to try out the Intermediate Class in the Junior Club as well as continuing with their Rookie year up to its natural conclusion at the end of their first season.

bullet point How does it work?

As well as racing as normal in the rookie series, the Intermediate driver may enter the Junior Championship as an 'Intermediate Class driver' in either age group. You will race alongside the Junior Club members, in the same races and will score points just as they do. However, when we add up the points at the end, the top three Intermediate point scorers will receive trophies for 1st to 3rd in the Intermediate Class irrespective of where they finish overall*.

bullet point Are there any rules?

Yes, there are some, but not many.

You must be competing in the Rookie series and have completed a minimum of 3 races. Should the Intermediate driver cease to race in the rookie series (except for temporary absence such as holidays or sickness) then they will be deemed to have ceased to be Intermediates and moved up to the full Junior Club class.

An Intermediate cannot win the Championship trophies. In the event an Intermediate should finish in the top three, they will earn Intermediate trophies and the Championship trophies will pass to the next championship driver in line.

Intermediate races start from £75. See Race dates for details.

A safe and fun environment

bullet pointThe primary objective of the Intermediate Class is for young drivers to enjoy their racing by progressing gradually between Rookie the Rookie series and the full Championship series and to achieve this in a safe and fun way.

bullet pointPlease note that when booking you should state that you wish the driver to be entered as an Intermediate driver. This allows us to ensure the eligibility criteria have been met and that the driver will be classed as an Intermediate.

bullet pointIf booking online, please put the word Intermediate in the comments box.
