Calling all Junior Club Members aged 8-14
Would you like to be crowned the Sodi World Series Junior World Champion? Silly question, of course you would. Read on...
Kart manufacturers Sodi sell their karts to many countries. Sodi, in conjunction with partner circuits all over the world, are looking to find the Junior World Champion driver. The competitions are open to all drivers aged between 8 and 14 (only). We have arranged a series of qualifying rounds which will be part of our Junior Club 8-13 and 11-16 Summer Championships that starts in March and runs to October. There will be qualifying rounds throughout the Championship. We will announce further dates in the autumn. You can do as many or as few as you like but only your best eight scores will count.
Your results will be uploaded to the SWS website www.sodiwseries.com and you will be able to see how you are doing compared to drivers from around the world.
At the end of the year the driver with the highest points total will be crowned Sodi World Series World Champion and will receive a special prize. (Still a secret at this stage.)
Q: When are the qualifying rounds?
A: The qualifying rounds will form part of both the 8-13 & 11-16 age group Summer Championship from round 1 onwards. Further rounds will be announced in the autumn. Following the end of each Junior Club round, all the SWS registered drivers will be sorted into order based on their finishing position in the Junior Club races. Non SWS drivers will be stripped out of this calculation. The finishing order will then earn SWS points as per the points system for that series. The method used for allocating these points can be seen here:

Q: What is the format?
A: Junior Club will take place as normal and points allocated to the Buckmore Junior Club Championship as normal. Then the non SWS registered competitors will be stripped out of the result so that a new order is formed. They will then be allocated points in the relevant SWS competition. These will be uploaded to the SWS website and sorted into a ranking order. Only the best eight results over the season will count.
Q: How much will it cost?
A: Nothing!* Buckmore would love it to be one of our members that wins again this year so we will not be making any charge other than your normal race entry fee, however many qualifiers you race.
* Drivers who qualify to go to the World Final in Europe will be required to pay an entry fee.
Q: What is the prize?
A: A good question. We don’t know yet as SODI want to keep it a secret, but it will be special and the title of World Kid Cup Champion will look pretty cool on your karting CV.
(The 2010 prize was a complete Cadet kart!)
Q: How do I enter?
First, enter one or as many Junior Club Summer Championship races as you like in your appropriate age group. If you fall into the age group 8-10 years or 11-14 years then we will then set up a registration for you and give you a user name and password for the SWS site so you can see how you are doing. Then simply turn up and race as normal. Your results will be promptly forwarded to SWS and displayed for the whole world to see!
So, what are you waiting for?
The Small Print:
The Sodi World Series is run by kart manufacturer Sodi and the competition is run at partner circuits throughout the world under SWS rules. Competitors must be aged between 8-14 to be eligible. Drivers of 15 and 16 are eligible to compete in the adult SWS world championship but 15 year olds will need an ARKS licence to comply with circuit insurance rules.
It is possible for children to register themselves onto the SWS website. We would prefer to do this ourselves as it gives us easy access to upload results and register drivers for specific events.
